OPPORTUNITY FOR LAUGHTER AND CEREMONY IN TEXAS

President of IIA, Gregory G Gomez visited the Dallas –  Ft. Worth area to attend a board meeting with another nonprofit and blessed our Texas group  with time to visit and witness a beautiful ceremony for a young woman from our Santa Fe Days Organizing committee.

It’s always wonderful to listen to Gregory sharing his wisdom with our younger group.  We all learn something each time he visits.

History states that the Indigenous people now known as Caddo in Oklahoma originally covered most of what is now east Texas and Louisiana. Their word for “Friendship” to the Spanish sounded like “tejis’ “tejus” so it became Tejas. Then the later Europeans from the south eastern US states came into what had been claimed by Spain, France and then Mexico. The US government used men like Stephen F. Austin to infiltrate and “steal through war” most of what is now known as the US southwest. So Tejas became Texas “the Friendship” state.
    Awwwww and so much more
